Programme of Study
Our programme of study is based on the legendary Russian Method. It includes two instrumental lessons per week, solfeggio, theory, harmony, composition, chamber music and choir. The emphasis is on getting to know and explore a wide and diverse repertoire.
Pupils' progress is assessed at public performances, end of term assessments and masterclasses. Group lessons take place on Sundays at the St Marylebone School, High Street Marylebone and individual lessons are given at St Marylebone School, as well as at St Mark's Hamilton Terrace and pupils' homes.
All our pupils are given regular opportunities to perform in public, and those who demonstrate exceptional dedication to music are given further opportunities to perform alongside professional musicians, to play with the orchestra and to appear at prestigious concert venues.
We currently offer tuition on the following instruments: piano, jazz piano, violin, viola, cello, double base, harp, classical guitar, recorder, clarinet, flute, oboe, trumpet, trombone, saxaphone, percussion instruments and voice.
There are three choirs (Lower Junior, Upper Junior, Senior) and many chamber ensembles, including the Junior String group.
